Matthew Shear is a American actor portraying Lucius Isaacson in the TNT original drama The Alienist.

TNT Cast BiographyEdit

Matthew Shear was a break-out star of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival when he shined in Noah Baumbach's Mistress America opposite Lola Kirke and Greta Gerwig. He first teamed up with Baumbach in the 2014 feature While We're Young and can be seen in the director's latest Netflix-produced feature, The Meyerowitz Stories, opposite Dustin Hoffman and Ben Stiller.

Shear made his feature debut in Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock. He went on to the film Beware the Gonzo opposite Ezra Miller and Zoë Kravitz. Shear has also been seen in guest star roles on CBS’s NYC 22, Hulu’s Deadbeat and Louis C.K.’s miniseries Horace and Pete, opposite Louis C.K. and Alan Alda.

Shear can be seen starring opposite Zosia Mamet in the indie film The Boy Downstairs, which premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival.[1]
